Shopping trolleys engaging in anti social behaviour on the corner of Market and Lewis Street
Like many towns, Mudgee has long had a problem with errant shopping trolleys. For years it was assumed that late-night revellers leaving hotels were to blame. But when public health orders demanded the closure of all venues, trolleys continued to appear in strange locations about the town.
‘We took the dramatic step of installing closed circuit cameras in a number of key locations,’ Detective Inspector Mahoney explains. ‘What we uncovered was truly shocking.’
‘Shopping trolleys are essential workers, and whilst most of them did the right thing and remained within the bounds of their designated car park, a few bad apples spoilt it for everyone else. On a nightly basis, in clear de ance of public health orders, throughout the entire lockdown, shopping trolleys met and engaged in lewd and anti social behaviour’.
‘I can’t tell you how many times I have watched the footage, but each time I manage to nd some new depth of depravity.’
